Maintenance Team Leader

In this role you will be team leader to a team of technicians across South West London & Surrey.

Duties

  • You will be expected to be a positive role model for our maintenance teams and an ambassador for the company, liaising with customers as required. You will carry out 1-2-1’s with your team and regularly check in with them, also bringing them together from time to time for team catchups.

    Time in the office will be given and you will have access to all FORA sites across the city.

    If there is a complaint at a site in the area you are responsible for, the customer service team will work with you to ensure it is resolved quickly, with assistance from other teams as required. You will visit and liaise with the customer to ensure everything has been resolved to their satisfaction.

    You are responsible for the quality of maintenance being carried out within your area, improving standards over time. This may involve carrying out quality checks and audits at customers to ensure maintenance is being done correctly. You will feedback to the technician after each audit and applaud good practice and address poor practice. Where issues and refurbs need addressing, you will take responsibility for making sure these are completed quickly, supporting the technicians and coordinating with other teams as required.

    The maintenance manager is overall responsible for preparing the rounds but you will work with him and give feedback on how to improve rounds. You will also work with management, bringing ideas to the table and ensuring your teams voice is heard.

    Whilst leading and supporting the team is your priority we would expect you to still carry out maintenance. This will include covering for members of your team who are off sick or on holiday or arranging for others in the team to cover this. Also, you'll have responsibility for the most prestigious sites within your remit.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and supervise an Interior Maintenance Team, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and planting is maintained to the highest standard.

    • Look after the technicians under your supervision and ensure they feel supported and have everything they need to be successful.

    • Provide help and support for technicians with more challenging customers and/or complex planting schemes, drawing on your knowledge and experience. This will include coaching technicians within your team, developing their expertise and increasing the overall capability of the team.

    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, while maintaining a clean and professional working environment.

    • Manage your own workload and that of your team, coordinating with other departments to minimise downtime and implementing schedules.

    • Maintain accurate records at all times and report to management on team performance, meeting with your line manager weekly. Weekly update.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years prior experience as an Interior Planting Maintenance Technician.

  • Horticulture qualification is essential.

  • In depth horticultural experience and plant knowledge.

  • Have leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise a field-based team, with experience in a leadership role.

  • Have a proactive approach to problem-solving with a can-do and flexible attitude.

  • Willing to get stuck in for the good of the company and in support of the team.

  • Exceptional customer service skills - be an ambassador for Plant Plan, our culture and values, willing to liaise directly with the customer.
