Dishoom is a renowned restaurant group that brings the charm of Bombay’s old Irani cafés to the UK. With locations in cities like London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Edinburgh, Dishoom is known for its warm, eclectic interiors, attention to detail, and dedication to creating vibrant, inclusive spaces. The brand's design ethos blends heritage with modern comfort, and biophilic elements play a key role in enhancing this atmosphere.
Dishoom required a planting solution that harmonised with its vintage-inspired interiors while also being practical for restaurant operations. The brief included a mix of live and replica plants, strategically placed in various indoor and outdoor areas. The design needed to evoke warmth and nature, with easy maintenance and adaptability across multiple locations.
We installed a diverse selection of plants, including terracotta planters and rustic troughs, featuring a variety of species such as Fatsia, Yucca, Monstera, and Zamioculcas. Hanging plants like Ivy were placed in macramé planters to complement the restaurant’s vintage vibe. We also incorporated replica plants where necessary, ensuring a consistent aesthetic without the need for heavy maintenance. External areas were enriched with Phoenix palms and Fatsia Gold to add a lush, green backdrop, while feature trees and trough planters added texture and vibrancy to indoor spaces.
The biophilic additions seamlessly blended into Dishoom’s signature design, enhancing both the customer and staff experience. The greenery helped soften the restaurant interiors, creating an inviting and relaxing environment. The combination of live and replica planting also ensured that each location maintained the brand's vibrant aesthetic, while being easy to manage and maintain. The plants became an integral part of the overall ambience, reinforcing Dishoom’s commitment to creating unique, warm, and memorable dining spaces.
